Why did s/he do it? A Workshop for Teachers
| Suicide and Thomas Kilroy's Christ Deliver Us! |
Saturday March 6, 2010 |
In response to some of the themes of Thomas Kilroy’s new play Christ Deliver Us! we present a workshop for transition year and senior cycle teachers to explore, through drama, issues surrounding suicide identification, prevention and support. This half-day workshop aims to give teachers the skills to raise awareness of mental health issues within the classroom. The morning will begin with a discussion from director Wayne Jordan and writer Thomas Kilroy who will consider the themes of Christ Deliver Us! This will be followed by a participative workshop, devised and developed by Smashing Times Theatre Company. It will be led by a drama facilitator in partnership with a qualified psychotherapist. Afterwards, all participants will attend the matinee performance of Christ Deliver Us! This workshop is presented in association with The Abbey Theatre, and supported by the Irish Research Council for the Humanities and Social Sciences. |
Booking opens Tuesday, 16 February 2010. Phone: 01 87 87 222 Early booking is recommended as places are limited to 25. Please note: anyone who has suffered a recent loss through suicide may find the workshop difficult |
